Seeking God with Our Whole Heart
Jeremiah 29:13
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
This message was for Israel when they will return from exile. God was giving them a mandate that if they would seek Him with their whole heart, He would abundantly bless them.
Before the exile, Israel went about doing business as usual and casually heard God, but seeking Him was not the normal relationship that they had with God. Although there were kings who instructed the people to seek God, not all of Israel followed that mandate. If the people would love God with their whole heart, He would bless them and protect them. Israel broke the covenant with God by their continual sins. So, Israel was taken into exile, by Babylon, for seventy years. When Israel returned home, God made these promises to bless and prosper them if they would seek Him with their whole heart.
For us today, God wants a relationship with us. He is not asking for a casual relationship, where we remember Him part of the time, He is asking for a covenant relationship in which, if we seek Him with our whole heart every day. If we will do that, He will bless us, keep us, and provide for our needs.
Prayer:
Lord, some have sought You with their whole heart, some have not. I believe what You are requiring is a unified body of believers that will seek You with their whole heart. This nation desperately needs You, but we are not unified; we are fragmented. Make us one Lord, make us one before You that the body of believers in this country would seek You with our whole heart for Your will to be done in this nation. In your name, Lord Jesus, we pray, Amen!
