Memorial Day

John 15:12-13 ESV

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

This verse is speaking of Jesus and His sacrifice for us all. I borrow this verse for our fallen heroes, because they willingly laid down their lives to bring us freedom as well as freedom of religion, and freedom to worship the way we want to worship. Our fallen heroes may not have known us, but they were still willing to fight for us so that we could be free.

Today, we first honor Christ our King for His sacrifice to free us from the penalty of death and to bring us back into a right relationship with God.

We honor our fallen heroes for their sacrifice for this great country. Honor their memories today. Since the Civil War, we have lost over a million soldiers to the present day on the battlefield, not counting the wounded who may still be suffering today for their fight for us.

Prayer:

Lord, we honor You first of all because You are our king. You paid the ultimate price to redeem us and buy us back forever to live in a right relationship with the Father. We pray for the families of our fallen heroes who still long for their family and friends who died so that we could be free. In Your name, Lord Jesus, we praise You, Amen!
