As a Child
Matthew 18:3-4 NLT
“Then He said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
The disciples asked Jesus who was the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. To their dismay, He told them that if they wanted to enter the kingdom of heaven, they had to have childlike humility and childlike faith. To be great, they had to learn humility. This is the opposite of the world’s standards. The world believes that if you hold a prominent position, or perhaps own a large business, or if you are rich, then you are great. Jesus came for all men, women, boys, and girls; all are important to Him. To be considered worthy of the kingdom, we must be humble, trusting, believing in who Jesus is and what He taught us.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to be who You have asked us to be. In the world’s standards, they seek the rich and powerful. In Your standards, you seek the humble. Lord, we want to be identified by Your standards. In Your name, Lord Jesus, we pray, Amen!
