In All Things

Romans 8:28 ESV

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

First, this promise is for those who love God, and who receive God’s call for their lives to follow Him.

It is not a promise that everything is going to go beautifully in our lives, but rather that everything will work out for God’s purpose and for our good. Life throws a lot at us, if we try to navigate these things on our own, sometimes it works out and sometimes it does not, Solomon called that “chance”. Rather, when things are thrown at us in this life that seem to be for our harm, if we carry those things to the Lord, He will work those things out for His will, and for our good. God doesn’t always remove the harm, sometimes He takes our hand and walks us through these troubled times. Why would he choose to walk us through troubled times? Because He sees all and knows all and He knows what will bring us to the saving knowledge that He is in control when we give Him complete control. Those times when He walks with us, He strengthens us, encourages us. He makes us stronger in those times. He works ALL things together with His will and for our good.

Prayer:

Lord, I am Yours and You are mine, Your banner over me is love. I sense Your love, I feel Your love, I know Your love because I have seen it in the tough times and in the good times. Thank You for loving me, thank you for calling me according to Your purpose and will. Thank you for working all things for my good and for Your good pleasure. I trust in You, Lord Jesus, Amen!
