New Mercies

Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

I know that I have used this verse recently, but I need to send out as a reminder that life with pain, sorrows of the heart, anxiety, depression and chronic pain is not something we look forward to every day. We have a hope for tomorrow that says His mercies never come to an end, but they are new every morning. So tomorrow look for His mercies in your situation.

I have a friend whose wife is constantly in anxiety. They are not Christians, and when I say to the husband, I will pray that God will lift this, and that she will find her way back to a good life, it is like pouring water on an oily surface, it just rolls off, it does not bring him hope. I am allowed to pray for this, even if they do not believe that prayer will help. In fact, I’m supposed to pray for the non-believer for healing, for restoration, peace and salvation.

God has perfect timing and sometimes we have to wait, but I dare to believe because of God’s words that mercy is on the way. I dare to believe that pain and suffering is not normal. I dare to believe that God already sees the place in time where healing will come. Why do I believe. Because God had Jeremiah write, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness,” and God would NOT have had Jeremiah write this if it were not true for you and me and my friends that do not believe yet.

Prayer:

Lord, all I can pray is, have Your will and have Your way in each of us today and for tomorrow. Your “mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; (Because) great is Your faithfulness.” In Your name, Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen!
