Unseen Things

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 ESV

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient (will only last for a while), but the things that are unseen are eternal.

The things that are seen in this life come and go. Good times are memories; bad times are lessons to learn and are typically unforgettable. All of those times are just temporary; they are part of the learning processes. Even miracles that we can think of give us hope to keep moving forward. Bad times hopefully teach us lessons of things not to do again, or situations not to get involved in again.

The unseen refers to invisible things that cannot be seen or perceived by our sight, but we know in our spirit that they are there. They call out to us, the invisible things of God bring us back to Him. The unseen things of God have kept us in line, kept us alive, they have shown us the way home. When times are hard, we look to the unseen hand of God and all that He provides for our heart, minds and spirits. The unseen things of God are eternal, and one day we will fully see His glory, face to face.

Prayer:

Lord, this morning despite what reality is in each heart and life here on earth, we as Christians, look to You, trusting, believing, hoping in You for something different that will bring us in fellowship with You. Things of this earth and the troubles it brings are just temporary. The things that we cannot see, the blessings, the peace, the comfort, they are real because we are spirit beings, we long for You and Your presence where we know that we will find all that we need. Lord, keep our focused on You. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
