Fear

Proverbs 29:25 ESV

“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.”

Letting the opinions, approval, or threats of people control us traps us in anxiety, and poor choices. Those things are snares. Our enemy also sets snares for us: Jesus said that satan has come to kill, steal and destroy. One of the traps he lays for us is fear. In fact, fear is one of his greatest traps. Solomon says that whoever trusts the Lord is safe. Trust is a knowing that Jesus saw the problem or fear before it became a reality to us. He provided a way for us to escape the fear, before fear ever manifested itself. Trusting Him to conquer our fears is trust that He saw the situation, provided a solution, and when we trust Him, He conquers our fear. If any of these steps are omitted, than fear has a chance of working in us. Jesus has made a way even if we can’t see it yet, that is trust, and that trust brings deliverance.

Prayer:

Lord, release us from the snare of fear. As we walk with You, help us to remember that we can cast all our cares on You, because You care for us. We trust in You our Lord and King. In You name we ask all these things, Amen!
