Small Beginnings

Zechariah 4:10 ESV

“For whoever has despised the day of small things shall rejoice, and shall see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.”

This word was  to encourage Israel as they were trying to complete the second temple under a lot of distractions and conflicts. God told Israel to put aside fear, distress, and sorrow of heart. When God is in the middle of things, the work will be accomplished, but have the faith to see it before it comes to pass. This second temple may not have been as glamorous as the first temple, but God’s Spirit would be in the temple and that is what matters.

This morning, receive what the Spirit is saying. The work you are doing for the Lord may seem small, but the Lord says, “Do not despise the baby steps. God is using you. It may seem small to You but it is mighty and miraculous if God’s Holy Spirit is in it.

Prayer:

Lord, sometimes I think what I am doing is too small, not enough, inferior. According to Your words, help me not to despise baby steps, small increments of ministry. With Your Holy Spirit in me and in the work for the kingdom, great things are being done. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray, amen.
