Nahum 1:7-8 ESV

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him. But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of the adversaries, and will pursue His enemies into darkness.

First of all, God is so good, loving, gracious and kind. With all His power and His might He routes the enemy, but to His children He is a stronghold. God as our stronghold means that He is a safe place of ultimate protection, refuge, and strength against any attack or trouble. He is a spiritual fortress against spiritual attacks and a physical refuge for the oppressed, providing the ultimate defense and shelter in difficult times. When we stay in His presence, He guards and protects us, but our enemies, He seeks them out for judgment.

Prayer:

Lord, be our stronghold today from attacks in our own minds and attacks from the darkness of this world. You know how the enemy taunts us with fear, and worry, protect us from him. Teach us to seek refuge in You. Hide us from our enemies oh Lord, let them see Your might and power and be afraid. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
