Freedom

2 Corinthians 3:17

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

The language in this verse is a little hard to put in a few words, but I will try. When we come to Jesus, He is the second person in the Trinity with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus and the Holy Spirit, with the Father are one, they cannot be separated. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom or liberty. This is freedom from bondage of sin as well as freedom from having to obey every law of the Old Testament. In Jesus we have been delivered, set aside for His glory, and we are continually being transformed into His image as we walk with Him daily. I put that in bold because to be transformed daily, it takes a daily walk with Jesus getting to know Him and allowing Him to transform our lives for His glory. This liberty, or freedom is breaking the yoke of sin and because of salvation through Jesus Christ we now live under grace, not the pressure of the Old Testament law. This liberty is not to do what the flesh says to do (self-gratification), but we do what the Spirit of the Lord tells us to do. Walking with Jesus is freeing, Walking with Him is peace, comfort, blessings, healing, restoration, it is a transformation from death to life.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for freeing us from the law and having to live under the law. Although it was the way to show us what God required, we could not live up to the standards on our own. Thank You for coming and setting us free because of grace. Now when we walk with You, we fulfill the requirements because of You living in us. In your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
