Philippians 1:12-14 ESV
“I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.”
Paul’s imprisonment, seen as a setback by many, actually became a powerful tool for advancing the gospel, revealing Jesus to the Roman guards and emboldening other believers to preach fearlessly.
Paul taught the Philippians (and us) that our circumstances, even persecution, can be used by God to bring glory to Jesus and fuel the spread of His kingdom, leading to greater boldness and faith among His followers.
Whatever we are going through, let Jesus shine in us. Whatever trials and troubles that we have, share the goodness of God working in us. Let others see that we are not daunted by our troubles but instead we can glorify Jesus in and through our troubles. Then, other Christians will be encouraged to boldly spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Lord, give us courage to stand up for Jesus even in the middle of our trials, bringing the glory to You. Allow what we are going through to encourage fellow believers that although we may be distressed Your name is lifted higher and let them feel the boldness rising up in them to proclaim the Gospel. In Your name Lord Jesus we pray, Amen!
