Soar like Eagles
Isaiah 40:31 ESV
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Waiting is not a strong suit for me; my wife says that I have the patience of a gnat. I believe learning a lot of patience with the Lord because I realize that after walking with Him for over 50 years things have worked better in His time, not mine.
This passage says some key things about what happens when we wait on the Lord:
1. Waiting on the Lord renews our strength, and vitality, not just in Spirit alone but in the mind and body as well..
2. Isaiah used the analogy of an eagle to get his point across. The eagle is a symbol of majestic power, confidence, and soaring above difficulties. When an eagle is bothered by other birds like crows (they are prominent pests of the eagles) They just rise higher in the sky where the crows cannot fly. Do you have any crows in your life?
3. Running is a good analogy; it says we will not getting weary and walk and not faint. This is a good illustration of our dependency on God. He gives us the ability when we trust Him to navigate this life successfully no matter what stage of life that we are in.
Prayer:
Lord, we are a microwave society; we want everything instantly. As we have found in the past, it is better when we do not try to run ahead of You and it is not good to lag behind, but it is always best to walk by Your side. When You move, we move, when You stop, we stop, when You run, we run. Help us Lord in our waiting. In Your name Lord Jesus, we seek You, Amen!
