True Disciples

John 15:8 AMP

“My Father is glorified and honored by this, when you bear much fruit, and prove yourselves to be My [true] disciples.”

This verse emphasizes that genuine discipleship is demonstrated through bearing spiritual fruit, (actively participating in God’s mission of bringing others to the faith, and by doing, saying and living out His mission in us). This spiritual fruit brings glory to God through us. It is the outward manifestation of a transformed life through good works and a Christ-like character.

John 15 teaches that true discipleship is not just an internal belief but an outward expression of what we believe. The fruit that we bear shows that we have truly been transformed, not necessarily in words but by our actions, words and reactions. You can always tell someone’s true character by how they react to different scenarios. All in all, the spiritual fruit that we bear should always be bringing glory to God and not ourselves.

Prayer:

Lord, I don’t want to just say that I’m a Christian, I want my life to be a testimony of the transformation that has taken place inside. Jesus, shine through me. In Your name I ask, Amen!
