Sons and Daughters

Romans 8:15b-16 ESV

“But you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons (and daughters), by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God…”

How did we become adopted by a Holy God? It was through the Holy Spirit that drew us to believe in Jesus. Nothing that we did on our own, but only through God’s grace and mercy. We came to believe in Jesus through the drawing of the Holy Spirit sent to us by God, that we would join His family. Now we call God our Father, or with highest respect, Papa as an intimate connection that we belong to Him. With this adoption we have all the rights and privileges as a natural son or daughter, just like we have always belonged in His family. That adoption can never be taken away, it cannot be stolen, it cannot be revoked. Now You are a true son or daughter of God, carry His name proudly but humbly.

Prayer:

Lord, we are joint heirs with You with all the rights and privileges. We are highly honored to be a part of Your family. We are not illegitimate, or strangers, as John 1:12 says, all who did receive You, who believed in Your name, You gave us the right to become children of God with You forever. Nothing can separate us from You ever again. Thank You Lord Jesus, Amen!
