Living Through the Spirit
Romans 8:5 ESV
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.”
There is only two ways to live life; one is through pleasing our physical nature or living life through the Spirit of God. The first one only leads to spiritual death because the flesh will never be satisfied. The second, living through the Spirit of God, leads us to true life and peace. It leads to fulfillment, joy, and eternal life with Jesus. We have a choice; follow the desires that will please the flesh, selfish desires, or live our lives through the Spirit of God where we find contentment and right standing with God. It doesn’t mean that we will never sin, it means that we are relying on the Holy Spirit to guide us. It means that the Spirit in us is driving us to please God and not our selfish desires. Will we still fail at times in this new walk? Of course, but we have a hope and a future that Jesus paid for our forgiveness at Calvary. By grace we keep moving forward, by God’s mercy He sees the Spirit that lives within us is His Spirit. We are not condemned, we are saved by grace, again.
Prayer:
Lord, we owe You everything because of Your unconditional love, mercy and grace that picks us up and leads us through this life to please You and not our own selfish desires. Lord, we owe You our all. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
