Victory in Jesus

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 ESV

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Jesus conquered over death, hades, and the grave through His resurrection. As this scripture states the sting of death came because of sin, it was the penalty for sin. Death was something that most feared and dreaded because of its finality, but we know it is not our final resting place, but a new beggining into eternal life. We will live with Jesus forever when we die, and Jesus will resurrect our lifeless bodies one day as well.

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” So, the fear of death should be quieted by the hope in which we trust that when we leave this life, we will be with Jesus in that same moment. “…thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Prayer:

Lord, we have to thank You for the victory we sense and know. You are our blessed hope; You are the one who took our sins away. You Lord, have removed the fear of death and actually given us hope, that when death comes, eternal life comes with it, because You broke the power of death. Thank You Lord Jesus, Amen!
