A Resurrection Is Coming
John 11:17-22
“Now when Jesus came, He found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off, and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met Him, but Mary remained seated in the house. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask from God, God will give you.”
I can imagine when Martha saw Jesus, her heart was extremely heavy. Here standing before her was the one person in all the earth that could have stopped this sickness and completely healed her brother Lazarus. Her words echoed her heart when she told the Lord, “if You would have been here.” In those few words, what spills out is frustration, hurt, and disappointment. Jesus knew her heart, He knew her mind, and He understood her words. He had great compassion for her hurt, but a healing was not what He was bringing, He was bringing a resurrection. Healing is great, we love healing, but a resurrection is a whole new level of power and anointing. This resurrection would seal the mind of Mary and Martha that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He can do anything, ANYTHING!
We all need something, and most of the time we would settle for just enough, or possibly to even get better if we are sick. Sometimes Jesus is trying to bring us a healing, sometimes He is bringing us a resurrection. A new level of faith, or a new level of hope to remove those “if only”, thoughts. Sometimes He is stretching our imagination to see the possibilities that He is bringing. If we are sad, despondent, hopeless, hang on, Jesus is bringing a resurrection.
Prayer:
Lord, I know that whatever You ask, God will give You. Stretch my faith, stretch my heart, my beliefs, my wants and my desires and remove ANY doubts and transform my life in a resurrection of Your power. In Your all powerful name Lord Jesus, Amen!
