Ask, Seek, Knock

Matthew 7:7 AMP

“Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.”

The verbs “ask,” “seek,” and “knock” imply a continuous, progressive action rather than a one-time request. It does not mean repetitive words, but sincere desire for God to give us the answers that we need is required. This prayer encourages ongoing, passionate effort in seeking God’s will. Consistent, sincere prayer will result in answers, though not always in the way we expect, but God provides what is best, not just what we request. Sometimes He gives us what we need and other times He gives us much more that we ask. It is NOT a magic formula for getting what you want. It is trusting, it is an intimate relationship where we align our desires with God’s will. “Asking” is making needs known, “seeking” is searching for God’s truth, and “knocking” is seeking access to His presence. This asking, seeking, knocking is us being proactive, purposeful, intent, and direct. We want God to make Himself known to us in our needs.

Prayer:

Lord, You know best what we need, so, we look to You the Author and Finisher of our faith. You know exactly what we need but still You want us to come and fellowship with You, to seek You and Your ways, to ask what we need even though You already know our needs. You want communication, You want a relationship, so we knock by seeking You intently! In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, seek and knock, Amen!
