Ears to Hear

Mark 4: 9, 20

“And He (Jesus) said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear…”

Jesus uses the phrase “He who has ears to hear, let him (or her) hear,” fourteen times between the Gospels and Revelation. It means when Jesus speaks or the word of God is read or heard, we sit up and take notice, or we have the ability to understand what the Master is saying. To casually pass up the opportunity to receive a revelation from the Lord is to say, “that is not for me,” or “I’ve heard it all before,” and we basically ignore the words from the Almighty. Those that care to hear, want to hear, desire to hear what our Lord is saying will receive in abundance. If anyone has read a scripture before and they think that they have heard it before and pass it up, they miss out on a fresh revelation from the Almighty. His words speak every day to every need and for every person. His words do not change, we change. Today we understand a scripture and it’s implications, the next time that same word reveals to us a different truth. What happened? We had ears to hear, perceive, recieve and understand.

Prayer:

Lord, we care to hear, we desire to hear from You. We desire a fresh revelation from Your words. We may have read it a thousand times, or a million times, but today You have something fresh to show us. Open up our ears of understanding. In Your name Lord we ask, Amen!
