Tempted

1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

In my late teens and early twenties, when I read this passage, the scenarios that were presented in my mind are far different than what I see now. Now, at my age, the temptations are not conventional sins but rather sins of worry, doubt, fear, and anxiety. At my stage of life, I’m more overwhelmed with thoughts of failures of the body, fear of the unknown, worry about family, and strangely enough, maintaining relationships outside the home. As Paul finishes his thought in this verse, he says that with every temptation, Jesus provides a way to escape the temptations no matter what they are. So, what do we do? We cast our cares on Jesus; we can’t solve them on our own anyway. He saw them before they got to us, and He made a way around any and every situation. Our duty is to find His perfect will and go through every situation that presents itself in His will and His way. His way is perfect; our way is flawed without Him.

Prayer:

Lord, You are our strength, our hope, our faith fulfilled. You Lord know what is best in any and every situation. When we cannot lean on someone else or we cannot figure out a way on our own, You are standing there, with the right way, the right answer to any and every situation, temptation, and moments of worry and anxiety. Teach us to lean on You more Lord. In You name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
