Purify My Heart Lord
Colossians 4:6 ESV
“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
We have often excused people’s bad behavior by saying, “that’s just the way they are.” Well, I’m not sure it is ever acceptable, especially among Christians to act or talk ugly to someone. Family members seem to bother us the worst because we believe they should know better, and they should know how to treat us because of familiarity with our way of thinking and dealing with matters. Don’t let that be a pattern for our words and actions. We should watch what we say and who we hurt. I have found friendly fire is the worst kind of injury when it comes to words. Strangers are here today and gone tomorrow but fellow Christians and family are always close. Always build up, don’t tear down. If we have been hurt, don’t hurt someone else because of the pain. “…know how you ought to answer each person.”
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me if I have ever hurt anyone with my words or even if I have looked unfavorably on someone. Season my words with salt (purifying agent) and help me to build up and never tear down. Purify my heart and my words. In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
