Something New

Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

God is telling Israel not to just think about what He did in the past with all the miracles that He performed. God did not want them to forget the past miracles because concentrating on what God did in the past blinded them from seeing what God was doing in their lives now. God is basically telling them to open up their spiritual eyes and see what He is doing now. He was reestablishing Himself as their Father. They had forgotten to follow Him, seeking His will, and His ways.

We often point to certain miracles that God did in our past and that is fine, as long as we are looking for God to move in our lives now. He wants to bless us; He wants to do miracles in our lives every day. What does God have in store for us today? If we will watch, listen and expect, He will amaze us.

Prayer:

Lord, as Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal…” I look to You Lord. What You have done in the past is amazing, but with that I want to know what you have for me today. In Your name Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen!
