Mercy, Grace, Compassion

Matthew 5:7 ESV

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”

Psalms 18:25a says, “With the merciful, You show Yourself merciful…” As I see this, the characteristic of the Kingdom of God in us is for our characteristic to show mercy. In God’s kingdom of thought, mercy creates mercy.  This is not the standard of the world. Their standard is to take advantage of those who display this character, but we are not a part of the world’s standards, we are a part of God. The godly aspect is for us, as we have received mercy from God in our lives, and we show that mercy to others. Otherwise if we hold our brother and sister in contempt, how are we to expect mercy. Mercy begets mercy.

Prayer:

Lord, I often say in my head, Christians are still human, they still fall back on their old nature too, I need to give them a break. Help me to encourage, rebuild, lift up those who have fallen and give them a helping hand. There is not one sinless person left on this earth Lord, not one. As my mother used to say Lord, “I need to get off my high horse,” I’m not superior. I need to give people a break and I know you will show me mercy, when I show mercy.
