The Right Frame of Mind
Colossians 3:12-13 ESV
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
Why was Paul encouraging the church at Colossi to put on compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, and telling them to learn how to forgive? Because when salvation comes into our lives, it is a daily walk. We are walking out moodiness, suspicions, rudeness, abruptness, haughtiness, pride and unforgiveness and walking in the Spirit for the rest of our lives to achieve these godly elements that Paul is speaking of and more. Moreover we are learning to be Christlike. We are learning that not everyone is perfect, not everyone matures at the same rate.
Remember God was watching us as we were walking out our salvation too. How many times did we stumble? How many times did we fall? How many times did we say the wrong thing, at the wrong time, and hurt someone. No one is perfect except our Lord and Savior, our Father, and His Holy Spirit.
Prayer:
Lord, work out of us the evidence of the flesh, or the old person that we once were. Work in us Your cleansing power. Clean out the impurities, cleanse out of us the old fleshly ways and bring us to maturity. In Your name Lord Jesus, we desperately need You, Amen!
