Approved Workers

2 Timothy 2:15 ESV 

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

This is not a word for just pastors, it should be a word to all responsible Christians to know and understand the words of God. False teachers were a problem in the early church, just as they are now. Pastors, church leaders, and responsible Christians are charged with the responsibility of keeping God’s people approved for works of service to the Lord.

I was on staff at a few churches and to be quite honest most of what came out of those pastors’ meetings were to do lists of how to keep things running in the church and who needed to be kept in line. It was exhausting. The truth of the matter is the church is a place to gather to worship, to refuel, to learn how to do the works of the Lord. Home should be the place where we study the Words of God and come to an understanding of what we have read in the Words of God.

To be approved means we study the Words of God and become prolific in His Words and knowing how to apply His Words to our lives FIRST and then teach God’s Words to others. There must be a revelation before a proclamation.

Prayer:

Lord, strengthen us in Your words, to know You by Your words. Help us in our study to come to a deep understanding of Your Words. Let Your Words be hid in our hearts that we do not sin against You and that we grow daily in You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
