Judging
Matthew 7:1 ESV
“Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly].
This is not a command to stop using godly wisdom, or common sense, and moral courage. This is a command that together with God’s written word we discern right from wrong, or to distinguish between morality and immorality. What we cannot do is judge one another in superiority because that is God’s work. We do judge the difference between right and wrong. If we see someone sinning that we know is a Christian, we can go to them privately and talk to them, but not in a judgmental fashion, but in love and concern. The sin in this judgment is feeling like we are superior, and we are the judge and jury.
Jesus continued and said, “For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged,” (NLT).
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for grace and mercy. The grace and mercy that You have shown me, I will show to my brothers and sisters in the Lord. In Your Righteous name Lord Jeses we pray, Amen!
