Reading the Words of God
Matthew 4:4 ESV
But he answered, ‘It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Reading and meditating on the Word of God brings transformative, active power that renews the mind, fosters spiritual growth, and leads to success according to Romans 12:2. According to Hebrews 4:12 it is a living, sharp, and authoritative force that provides divine wisdom, protects against evil, and offers guidance, hope, and peace in every season of our lives according to many scriptures in Psalms 119. Psalms 1:2-3 says, “But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” You cannot get the results without doing the work.
Meditating on the word of God is intentional, deep reflection and pondering of scripture to understand its truths, allowing them to transform our minds, hearts, and actions. It involves repeating verses to understand and apply God’s will to our daily lives.
Prayer:
Lord, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path”, (Psalms 119:105). “Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me”, (Psalm 119:133). “You are my hiding place and my shield; I have put my hope in your word”, (Psalms 119:114). “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you”, (Psalm 119:11). “I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word”, (Psalms 119:15-16). I pray this in Your lovely name Lord Jesus, Amen.
