The Blessings of the Righteous
Psalms 37:18-19 ESV
“The Lord knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will remain forever; they are not put to shame in evil times; in the days of famine they have abundance.”
God sees everything and everyone. God is personally aware of, and involved in, the daily lives, struggles, and trials of those who live for Him. Unlike the temporary, fading prosperity of the wicked, the “heritage” or inheritance of the upright is sure, God has a reward and plan for each of us individually and collectively. The righteous will not be disappointed in their trust in God, even when facing severe hardships or disasters. “In (the) days of famine they will be satisfied” this indicates that God will provide for the physical and spiritual needs of His people, even in times of scarcity or crisis. What was striking to the Babylonians when they held Israel captive is how God still cared for them although they were in exile, away from their homeland. If God did it for them, even when they were being punished for their sins, God will abundantly bless His children even when we live in a troubled environment.
Prayer:
Lord, we trust in You. See us and vindicate us even as we live in troubled times and in troubled environments. We trust that You will provide for us physically, mentally and spiritually. In You name Lord Jesus, come to our rescue, Amen!
