Maturity
Colossians 1:28
“Him (Jesus) we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching (leading) everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature (fully developed) in Christ.
We proclaim Jesus and the power of His resurrection and life.
We warn that the days are evil, many are falling away when they should be running to Jesus. We are warning those who have not turned to turn and find new life and a new hope.
We teach that Jesus came to save humanity. He came to give meaning and a new life to all who will receive. We teach that He showed us who the Father really is a God of love and not a judgmental God. We teach that through knowing Jesus and believing in Him and receiving Him there is life everlasting with Him.
We become mature ourselves so that we lead others to maturity. We become mature ourselves in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God and His words and how to live a life worthy of our King. Then we teach others so that they can be mature in Christ.
The Greek word for “mature” in the verse is teleios (τέλειος), which means complete, full-grown. It means reaching a state of full development, or the intended goal or purpose for which a person exists in Christ. It is not a state of unattainable perfection, but rather a spiritual maturity.
Prayer:
Lord, lead me, so that I will be spiritually mature and then be able to teach others how to be spiritually mature. In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
