The Mystery

Colossians 1:27 ESV

“To them (those who have already received Christ) God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

It may not seem like a mystery to us who have known the Lord for a long time. The mystery was that Jesus is for everyone not just the Jewish people that were the first to hear of this salvation through Jesus Christ. The mystery that Paul is talking about is that Jesus is for everyone, including the Gentiles. Paul’s ministry turned to the Gentiles (everyone that is not a Jew) after the Jews tried to silence Paul’s message of the Gospel of Christ. To those who believe and have received Jesus, we know that Jesus is in us, He is our hope. To those who do not know Him, to those who have not received Him, they have no idea how special it is to know that when they receive Jesus, He comes to reside inside their lives. It was a shock to the Jewish Christians when Gentiles began to believe. To the Jew, in those days, Gentiles were of no importance, the were considered worthless. Jesus is for everyone, the Jew and the Gentile.

Prayer:

Lord, I pray this morning as David prayed in Psalms 51:12, “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.” I’m not asking to be saved again Lord, I’m just asking that You restore the joy every morning of what it means for me to have You living in my life, and that today I get to pass that on to others, that they can wake up with the same joy. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
