Listen
Psalms 81:13-14 ESV
“Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! I would soon subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes.”
In this passage, God is speaking, and His desire is that those who are in His family would remember His words and act upon what He has decreed. God was accusing them of not listening to Him and His commands. So, hearing and forgetting God’s words is the same failure as not listening.
God said that if Israel would listen and walk with Him, He would subdue their enemies. This means He will humble their enemies and bring them under His control. To turn His hand against their foes is to actively fight for Israel and punish their enemies.
God will do the same thing for us, His children, now. Hear God, remember His words and He will subdue our enemies and fight for us.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to seek your words every day, and to pay close attention to what you are saying to me. Make my ears to be in tune to Your voice as your Holy Spirit directs me. Then I will fear no evil, for You are with me. In your name, Lord Jesus, amen.
