Like Minded

Philippians 2:1-2

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.”

Paul starts off by giving four reasons to be like minded.

1. The encouragement that we have together in Jesus Christ.

2. Christ’s Love that has a deep abiding bond between us.

3. The Spirit moves in all of us to draw us together in unity.

4. The affection and cohesion that we have for Christ first and for others as well.

In light of these four aspects, Paul requests that the readers be of the same mind (sharing a common Christ centered viewpoint), having the same love (Christ’s love in us toward each other), being in full accord (united in Spirit) and of one mind (a shared purpose with each other).  Paul is asking that his readers come together with their own unique personalities to form one symphony or to be in harmony.

Prayer:

Lord, make us one in You. Bind our hearts minds and spirits to form a perfect harmony for the sake of Your Gospel. So that the world will see that we are not fragmented but one body in You Lord, Amen!
