Independence Day
Psalms 33:12 AMP
“Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.”
David was saying that even before a nation chooses God, God chooses the nation. I believe that this nation belongs to God, we just have to get it back as “One Nation Under God.” When we accept God we accept His values, morals and standards. We decide that we are going to live our life with purpose and meaning, and that we will serve God and uphold our nation in prayer.
This nation came to being by our founders that came to this new land so they could worship God freely. They wanted to serve God, love God and be free of tyranny and oppression. They also sought new land to plant and grow crops, land that they could own and be free. They sought economic freedom and justice. They purposefully were seeking God’s approval in a new land with a new beginning. 250 years ago, they made a constitution and we have been granted rights and privileges by God. We have gone astray since then, and we have become a divided nation.
Despite powers, regimes or politics, we belong to God first. We are citizens of heaven and the Kingdom of our God. But God is requiring something of us today and every day, to be “One Nation Under God.” God is seeking a nation that will serve Him and honor Him.
Prayer:
Lord, we, the believers of Your Father and our Father, band together in our hearts and minds today to celebrate Your goodness, Your mercies and Your grace. Thank You for this nation, thank You that we can serve You like we desire. Thank You that we can live free indeed. In Your name Lord Jesus we take back this land in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen!
