Blessed
Psalms 34:8 ESV
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
David is giving an invitation to the readers of this poem to have a personal experience with God. He is not just saying give God a chance, I’ve seen hundreds do that and at the first turn of something bad that happens, they walk away from God. I doubt that David knew that millions would be reading his songs of praise and instruction, but millions have and millions have come into a relationship with the Holy God, our God. David is basically saying have a personal experience with God and perceive who God is and what He is all about. Then David drops a promise with this invitation, the person that comes close to God, to be in His presence, will continually be comforted, blessed, and prosperous.
Don’t just dip your toe in the water so to speak, jump in and immerse yourselves in God.
Prayer: Lord, I have tasted, I have come into Your presence and there I found lasting peace, joy, love, protection and understanding. You are not just good Lord, You are wonderful, full of love and compassion and Your mercies never end. I love being in Your presence Lord. Thank You Lord! In Your glorious name we pray Lord, Amen!
