Establish the Work of Our Hands

Pslams 90:17 ESV

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!”

This is a plea for God to approve and make our work steadfast, preventing it from being in vain. It signifies a desire for our actions to align with God’s will, bearing righteous fruit and reflecting His goodness. It’s about doing work that outlasts us, something of value that serves God’s greater, eternal purposes, like Jesus completing His Father’s work. This verse is a prayer for God’s blessing and presence to sanctify our daily lives and vocations, transforming ordinary tasks into something extraordinary and eternally meaningful through His power and favor, making our lives a living testament to His goodness.

We are asking God to take our motivations and put them to His purpose.

Prayer:

Lord, I want to do what You want me to do. I want to go in Your directive with Your purpose in mind. I don’t want to do something and then ask You to bless it. So, lead me, teach me, and establish Your work within me and through me. In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
