The Words of God

Hebrews 4:12 AMP

“For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

The Word of God is not merely ancient words written on pages. It is an energetic force that continues to work in believers’ lives long after they have digested God’s words. It is capable, and it does cut, through deception, and excuses, to reveal the truth about a person’s spiritual condition. The Word penetrates the deepest, innermost parts of our lives reaching areas that are otherwise hidden, or so we may believe. God’s words act as a judge that exposes not just our actions, but also our underlying motivations, attitudes, and intentions. 

I believe that this is why so many Christians do not read God’s words on a daily basis, they may feel exposed if they read the truths in God’s words. In fact, if they did read God’s words on a daily basis, they would find, strength, power, hope, anointing and truths that will change their hearts and lives forever.

Prayer:

Lord, allow Your words to remove the dross in me, to reveal all that is not pleasing to You, and allow Your words to wash over me and change my life. Allow Your words every day to motivate, lead, guide, and direct my life to be more like You Lord. In Your name Lord Jesus I ask, Amen!
