Unity

Philippians 2:1-2 ESV

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.”

The subject matter of these two verses is having the same mind, the same love, being in full accord (unity of purpose). Paul is not asking for everyone to necessarily think alike, after all we all have different personalities. He is asking that the believers would get on the same page, basically unify in thought, in love and have the same goal: to follow Jesus, to represent Him to the world in every area of our lives. Honestly if all Christians could have a single purpose, we could be unified and then we could shine as a light in the darkness so bright that no one could deny we are Christ’s ambassadors. There are so many churches and denominations focusing on their own system and beliefs, it is hard to be unified. Imagine the revival we could have if we could all get on the same page in the Christian community.

Prayer:

Lord, unify all Christians, all churches, so we can be Your body, Your light, Your love. Lord show us there is no competition in Christianity, show us that we are not competing with each other, we are all on the same side. Unify us Lord so we can be the bright light that we are supposed to be. In Your name Jesus I appeal to You, Amen!
