After the Celebration

Isaiah 41:10 ESV

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Many times, after Christmas is over, and the family is typically gone, clean up has been underway, settling back into normal life is not easy at times especially if someone feels alone. There are a few practical things that we can do; walk and talk with Jesus; we get a bit of exercise and have a two way conversation with Jesus at the same time. Also, think positive thoughts as spoken about in Philippians 4: 8, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” We should contact someone today for a brief conversation. We should eat a balanced diet and not finish the Christmas cake and cookies. Stimulate the mind; read, study a passage in the Bible, do a puzzle, write someone a text or email that encourages them. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. My mother’s all-time favorite, practice good hygiene. Most of all know that God cares, He is listening and don’t forget to listen to Him. Can I tell you that God has a lot to say, I hear Him all day long speaking.

Prayer:

Lord, I ask today that You be our companion and friend to anyone that is lonely or is sad to see Christmas passing. When the family is gone many are back to their daily routines, some like that, some do not. Be a friend that is closer than a brother to us today. Fill our hearts with joy and fulfillment. Be our Wonderful Counselor, our Mighty God, our Prince of Peace today Lord. In Your name Lord Jesus we pray, Amen!
