Straight Paths
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
The objective for Solomon was to find a straight path with God. What does a straight path look like? A straight path for us is to live a life of faithfulness to God and living a life with integrity, no matter who is watching or not watching. A straight path with God is to find a path where obstacles are not a problem. Obstacles are a norm in this life, so how do we avoid the obstacles? We can’t, but God can navigate them for us as we trust Him. Every obstacle that we face, God had a solution before we ever faced the obstacle. This is where trusting God comes into play. As we trust God with our whole heart, He will either remove the obstacles or walk us through with Him by our side the whole way. Do I really mean that God will walk us through our own messes or obstacles that we encounter? Yes, fire, flood, mountains, financial issues, relationship issues, worries, anxieties, sickness, whatever the obstacle is God will remove it or walk us through it. As we face obstacles this will take leaning on God and not trying to fix things ourselves. Our history shows that we typically may find a solution, but was it the right solution, this is where our own pride will need to be removed. Instead of us determining our own solution, lean on God, He has the perfect solution. Our solutions are temporary; His solutions are eternal.
Prayer:
Lord, because I’m a fixer, sometimes I try to navigate the obstacles of this life by figuring out the solution without consulting the Master of the Universe, You Lord. Lord, I confess that sometimes I trust my own judgments instead of seeking Your council. Will You forgive me Lord and help me to trust and to lean on You in every situation of my life? Remind me on the next obstacle that I face to stop, drop to my knees and roll all my cares on You. Thank You in advance Lord, Amen!
