Expectations

Isaiah 9:

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

The promise of the Messiah was for the Jews, given the promises from Jewish writings and prophecies. He would be the King of the Jews yes, but eventually through a revival of the early Christians, He would be ruler of the entire world, to all those who would believe. He will not rule over a physical kingdom on earth until the end of times, but until then He will rule over hearts and lives through His Kingdom in our hearts and minds.

The estimation of the known world in first century AD was between 170 million to 300 million people. The Jewish population of that time has been estimated between 4 and 8 million people. The challenge to spread the news of the Messiah to 4-8 million Jews in the known world may be impossible in our minds. In God’s mind, He was thinking not just the Jews, but the entire world of 170-300 million people right up to our time and beyond with 8 billion people now on earth. The news is still being spread 2000 years later. Impossible? Not with God. He took a hand full of rough, untrained men and they began in their corner of the world and the news spread like wildfire throughout the known world, the Messiah had come and He made it possible to have life eternal with Him. The longer the world goes on, technology and logistics becomes easier. Tell someone about our Savior, the Messiah, our Savior, our Redeemer has come. With God all things are possible.

Prayer:

Lord, use us to spread the word, that You our Messiah, Lord, Savior, Deliverer, Healer, our King, our Redeemer has come to live within hearts and lives. It is not impossible with You Lord to spread the word around the world. This Christmas season Lord, don’t let us get caught up in the tinsel and glitz of the season without first spreading the word, the Messiah, our Redeemer has come. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
