Open Doors
Colossians 4:3a ESV
“…pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ…”
Paul was in prison writing this letter to the Colossians. The open door was not that he could get out of prison, but that doors would open for him to share the Gospel by letter or by sending one of his disciples to preach the Gospel, while he was still in prison. Being in prison and still desiring to minister the Gospel to anyone, shows Paul’s focus. He wasn’t ringing his hands wondering what was going to happen to him. He wasn’t fearing judgment, the only thing that he wanted to know is, who else can I tell about Jesus. Paul knew he was going to appear before Caesar, and even though he was not sentenced on his first appearance, he knew eventually he would die for the cause of Christ. His desire, his mission was to tell someone else about Jesus. My desire is to tell someone about Jesus and to touch lives so that those I have reached will tell someone else about Jesus. Pass it on!
Prayer:
Lord, open doors for us. As the opportunity opens for us to tell someone about Jesus, don’t let fear keep us silent, don’t let fear of rejection keep us silent. As we open our mouths, fill our mouths with the words we need to express the Gospel to those people clearly. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
