Conversation

Luke 6: 12 ESV

“In these days He went out to the mountain to pray, and all night He continued in prayer to God.”

In no way, fashion, or form do I believe this all-night prayer was a one-sided conversation. I believe that Jesus and the Father had a lot to discuss before Jesus stepped out into the ministry of saving the world. There we goals, strategies, conflicts to discuss, obstacles to talk about, people who would play a vital part in the work of the Lord.

The first time that I went to an hour-long prayer meeting at 6am I was lost after the first ten minutes. So, I sang to the Lord, I prayed, I read His words to get feedback. I communed with God, and I listened the best that I could about what I should be praying for. Yes, there were needs to prayed for, but I did not just want to roll out a laundry list of wants in this hour. Talking to God should be like talking to a best friend; we talk, God listens, God talks we listen. I’m a better listener than a talker so this concept became easy until I discovered God wanted me to say more, ask for more, stand in the gap for more people.Prayers like that can last awhile and so, I ty to conduct a rolling conversation as best as I can. Don’t get the wrong idea, there are times of solitude and communion with God, He deserves that, but there is also an all-day prayer session with God where we walk and listen, and talk and walk and listen, you get the idea.

Prayer:

Lord, I am reminded of the song that said, “I don’t tell it enough, I don’t pray enough…” My personal time with You needs to increase and our walks and talks needs to increase. Groom me into who I am supposed to be and help me not to just have a little talk with You, but a long walk and talk with You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
