Godly Humility
Matthew 23:12 ESV
“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Godly humility is a deep awareness of one’s own limitations and dependence on God, all the while recognizing His greatness and majesty. It’s not about self-abasement or an unrealistic view of being lowly. In God’s sense of humility, we recognize, and we proclaim openly God’s infinite superiority and choose to submit to His perfect will. God’s humility is not an outward show but a genuine attitude of the heart that leads to a deeper relationship with God. Do others see this humility? Maybe, but if it is done for show it is not genuine humility. We have seen that for years from people who call themselves Christians. Humility does not seek acknowledgment or the attention, Godly humility is looking for more of God.
Prayer:
Lord, more of You and less of me. My humility cannot be put on and taken off. My humility is not for show, nor is it so someone may think I’m holy. My humility has to be genuine, or it is just a phony resemblance, something that appears to be what it is not. That would make me a fraud. Lord, I need more of You and less of me. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
