According To the Spirit

Romans 8:3-4 ESV

“For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

When we make a conscious choice to not walk in the desires of what pleases the flesh, but instead we decide to walk in and with the Spirit of God we step into the realm of a mindset that says we want all that God has for us and we will do what God tells us to do.  

The flesh desires things we see that we want even if they are not good for us. It desires things that build a dependency on what the flesh wants instead of what the Spirit of God wants. It desires things that say that we are self-sufficient, we do not need anyone. That was never God’s plan for us, that is the enemy’s plan.

The Spirit wants us to have a meaningful life and peace. Jesus made us free from the law of sin and death and declared us free. Now we choose to walk according to what the Spirit desires because there in, we know we will receive what we need to fulfill God’s plan for our lives.

Prayer:

Lord, we left behind the deeds of the flesh to walk according to the Holy Spirit. Do not allow us to slip back into the life we once lived. Lead us to the life of possibility and joy and peace. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
