Baptism

Luke 3:16 ESV

“John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

First the baptism (meaning immersion) of John was a spiritual cleansing by the outward act of immersion in water. John tells those listening that the Messiah would come and His immersion would be with the Holy Spirit. This baptism of the Holy Spirit is a full immersion in the anointing and power of God. This immersion in the Holy Spirit comes after our cleansing from sin, making ready a life that will be anointed to speak, sing, pray, write, write songs, show mercy, encourage, build up and testify of the goodness of God.

When you have received Jesus as Lord and Savior, you want all that He has for you. You want the Holy Spirit working in you and through you. That is the idea of immersion into the Holy Spirit of God, for God to have His way in us fully and completely.

Prayer:

Lord, we want all that You have for us. We want for You to work fully and completely in our lives. More of You Lord and less of us. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
