Gospel of the Kingdom

Matthew 9: 35 ESV

“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.”

Jesus was proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom. The Gospel is the “Good News.” The Kingdom is the Kingdom of God that exists in the heart of the believers of Jesus the Christ. It is not His earthly Kingdom as yet, that will come later, but for now this Kingdom of God’s dwells within us.

At the time of Jesus’s proclamation, the Middle East was floundering at best, and they had just come through roughly 400 years of darkness where lawlessness abounded. Jesus’s message of the Good News of God’s love and His Kingdom was refreshing. People needed this Good News.

We, once again are going through some dark times throughout the world. The world needs to hear this Good News from the followers of Jesus Christ and His message of love, acceptance, and deliverance. The world does not need to hear us repeat the rhetoric that the news is giving to the world every day, they need a fresh word from Jesus.

Prayer:

Lord, in our hearts and minds is a message so profound, so honest, so full of hope about God’s love and forgiveness, help us to proclaim that word of refreshing news, the Good News. Open up our mouths to share You to the world. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
