Create In Me

Psalms 51:10 ESV

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a rightspirit (or a steadfast spirit) within me.

For some, we have seen this passage a hundred times, and God still brings things from this simple prayer from King David. He asked forgiveness for specific sins that he had committed. David asks two specific things in this prayer:

First: Create in me a clean heart or recreate in me a clean heart. God gave us hearts to follow after Him, it just takes some moving of things out of the way to find that pure heart that God created. David knew that his sin came from his heart and his heart lead him into sin. David needed God to start over to n his life, so, God gave him a heart after God.

Second: David asked God to renew a right spirit in him or a steadfast spirit. A steadfast spirit means to be firmly rooted in our convictions, and purpose, remaining unwavering even in the face of challenges or adversity. It’s about having a stable and steady foundation in God and our faith in God.

Prayer:

Lord, this morning we ask you to create in us a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit in us, a spirit that longs for You, a spirit that seeks You in good times and in bad times. Like David, give us a heart that longs for You. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
