Jesus Cares
John 21:4-6 ESV
“Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.”
Jesus taught these guys for 3-1/2 years. He has prayed with them, and for them. They have seen Jesus brutally beaten, crucified and buried. They have even seen Him alive after His resurrection. They have seen the best of the Master even at the worst of times.
They came to a place after the resurrection, on their journey back to Galilee, where they felt lost. They decided to go fishing, something familiar to these guys. But this fishing trip did not bring any comfort.
Then Jesus arrives. He cares for His men, He looks out for them. Before speaking to them in the shore, He shows them where the fish are. Jesus knows where these guys were mentally, so He meets them where they are mentally.
Sometimes we feel melancholy, maybe uncertain. We try to find peace in the familiar, but often it doesn’t work. Jesus knows exactly where we are physically and mentally. He is right there with us. He cares, He loves us, and He affirms us. What we are looking for in our life, He has it, ready available, He will provide. His ultimate goal? To get us back on track, moving forward again.
Prayer:
Lord, we get off track sometimes. Sometimes we just are unsure what is next. You know, You understand, You provide. Thank You Master for understanding human nature. In your name Lord Jesus, AMEN!
