Think About Your Next Move

Proverbs 4:26 ESV

“Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.”

Think and pray about the next move that you make. Think, pray about the course of action for the next purchase or the next financial decision, the next relationship, friendship or any decision that you make. What we do today affects our tomorrow.

I knew this as a young man, but I did not heed the advice in many of my decisions. In some of those decisions, it cost me dearly and it cost me for years.

Thinking, praying about each decision that we make is crucial to ourselves and sometimes crucial for our families. The advice here is, think about the now as well as the future. Think about what could result from the next steps that we take. According to this advice, if we think about, and pray about our next move then when we follow “good advice” and proceed, then all will work out to our advantage.

Prayer:

Lord, sometimes we just charge ahead without making careful decisions, without counting the cost, without thinking of the aftermath or outcome. Teach us to pause, think, ponder, roll it over and over in our minds, ask for Your help, seek good advice from a worthy counselor, and seek godly advice from a friend or close relative before we make costly decisions. We need You Lord Jesus, Amen!
