Never Walking in Darkness
John 8:12 ESV
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Walking in darkness is being lost. If we are saved by grace, then we always stand in grace with God, we are not going to lose our salvation. Walking in darkness is living unsure of who God is, what He stands for, and unsure of what He has told us in His words. Walking in darkness is living in fear, worry, and having regrets that we have not given over to God.
As I get older, walking in physical darkness means that I’m unsure of my footsteps; I’m not sure if I am going to trip and fall. So, the intelligent thing to do is to turn on a light or get a flashlight. Spiritual darkness means that we do not have the light of Jesus in our lives.
When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, the spiritual light turned on in our lives so that we can see spiritual things. We are aware of the enemy’s tactics. We sense when the darkness is starting to crowd in on us. So, what do we do? We get closer to Jesus. Then we become aware of the Spirit of God leading us moment by moment.
Prayer:
Lord, this morning we have You, so we have the light of life in us. If there are any who do not have the light of Jesus in their heart, I pray that they call on Your name, believe in You, confess their sins and ask You to come into the hearts and lives. Use me to reflect the light of Jesus to those who walk in darkness. In Jesus name, Amen!
